An upper middle class black family from Queens, the Benjamin's are educated, progressive, and move effortlessly among a multicultural social circle. They are what is known on the street as, “huxtables”. Through Calvin and his sister’s struggle to find their place in the world, the series explores race, identity, and the unique challenges privilege imposes on people of color.

Meet the Benjamins: Edsel, Lorraine, Althea, Elora, Geraldine, and Calvin who is not living up to the family’s upper middle class standards. If his overbearing brother-in-law, and doomsday prepping sister don't push him over the edge, his recurring nightmare will.

At a friend’s wedding in Virginia, Calvin hooks up with Beulah-Reece who shares the same last name and, unbeknownst to him, is the great-great-great-great granddaughter of slave owners.
